.....of the season.

Layed out 12 beaver carcasses and a few putrifying cat carcasses four days ago. Yesterday I inspected carcasses and set them up. Checked traps and pulled today. Our cat season ends tomorrow but I have other plans for Saturday so this had to be it for the year.

After we got out there had to pull over for my trapping partner's favorite place to get a drink:


And checked the first carcass:

ANd a nice view in a coastal pasture on the way back home. Put 200 miles on the truck today.

What I lack in cat know-how I make up for with lots of beaver carcasses. That's the system. LOL

Nice haul and season Carl. I'd love to have critters with spots to trap. At least I have nice beaver pelts .
And the money for those cats on regular years are great This year it looks like the sky's the limit on those cats.

And as soon as I got home am baking cherry pies for my brother's birthday tomorrow.

Pretty happy with today's catch. A couple of those males have pretty decent bellies.

Last year at FHA similar cats graded heavy western B-C bellies. Was surprised that they graded heavy.

Another thing that is always kind of amusing to me is I set things up thinking front foot catch but I catch as many by back feet as I do front. I had some kitty bladder urine and turds to help direct them to where they should be stepping. I'm convinced that they back in a lot of times to christen the spot.

Thanks for the kind comments guys. I'll get back on how they do in Idaho next week. I have no idea what buyers will be thinking about our grade of cat. But last June my best cat fetched $360 at FHA and was bid less than a hundred at our association sales.
