When I tore out the rear root on my medial miniscus on my left knee, Providence Farm, Matt offered to come up here with his sons and help me on my farm, even though he didn't know me well. He was serious. It was not a fake offer.
Matt and his family did come up and visit last Summer. They were all good people.
I know his outspokenness on some issues offends some of the members here, some of who are pretty brutal on condemning how he treats his family, particularly his wife. I met her and she is not beaten down and submissive. His daughter isn't either. I think the people that dislike him, some of which I know pretty well and like, would like him if they interacted with him in person.
Typed language, without sound and visual cues, tells you some, but not a whole lot about how people truly are.
Matt is also loyal. When he thought Savell was being hard on me he said:
I having meet Keith in person you would bet you would be taking off your hat and addressing him stammering yes sir while shivering like a small dog with its tail between its legs worried that soft spoken mountain of a Man Yankee would roll your rebel hind end all the way back south to the Gulf of America. I'm sure some southerners had been learned up how to act proper. Maybe you could find some and learn from them ?
I found it hillarious, but appreciated it greatly. I've never been called a Mountain of a Man Yankee before, even though I am very powerfully built. Savell is one of the people I talk to the most here by PM and a real cousin related to me many ways. We have fun teasing each other. I took no offense from what Savell said.
