I've never had pickled pigs feet, but would try them. I knew kids, when I was one, who would use that as an exclamation of disbelief.

What do they taste like? What sort of brine are they in?

I like smoked hocks and beans.

Taste like pickled meat, it's been at least 40 years since I've eaten one.
50 Years since I would see them in the bars!
I just checked, they're still around, so I'm going to get some.

I love pork hocks and bean, also pork hocks in a New England cabbage dinner.
They're getting hard to find also.

Don't know if they are the same as 50 years ago, but here's some.

Winners in Osgood, Ohio is a really good butcher. They frequently win best sausage, in national competitions, in a few different categories. They sell smoked pork hocks at both their butcher shop and their grocery store in Osgood. For a while we were having two hogs a year butchered there. They always did a good job and their prices are reasonable. I should clear out a freezer of mostly fruit and buy another hog.

Are the pig feet in like just a standard vinegar, water and sugar pickle?

To be honest, I really don't remember the pickle taste , just the pickled meat was good.
Ihave no idea if the store bought ones will be the same, but someone mass produced them back then, in gallon jars.

I've got a gallon jar of them that I found in a small town gas station in Nebraska. They're not as good as the ones you could get years ago but still pretty good. A couple places here sell fresh pigs feet and I like them cooked in a crock pot with saurekraut.

Around here, I can buy the Hormel brand of pickled pig's feet at Walmart and some grocery stores too. I first tried them when I was a kid because my dad said they were good. He was right too.

My mom mailed some to me at basic training. The guys from Louisiana thought I was gross.

This is our retail option around here.
