I use tubes quite often with great success. I do not use that particular model though. The one I use has a bar 2/3 of the way back that the animal has to walk pass to get to the bait. When the bar is touched, a door slides down similar to this one pictured. The door is resting on a screw that is set on top of the bar. I like these for a couple reasons; they don't need to step on the pan in back of the trap, the back door releases for easy baiting, cleaning or animal removal, and they are good in a situation where an accidental spray would be bad (think hvac units, under houses, etc.) I also will put this near an open cage so I only have to deal with one animal that can see me at a time. I believe the manufacturer is Z-trap.

Looks like the same trap I have. I haven't had to use it yet. What does everyone use for bait in these?

i have had variable results the ones that i have caught in it just rolled out no problem i think the bait is key compared to a cage trap i do prefer the dura poly no spray skunk cages over the tube have found even the 7x7 squirrel cage works pretty effective for a no spray as it is basically the same size as a skunk and they cant get their tail raised

I've got a few of the small 6" "no spray" ones, but they've always ventured into the cages or bigger tubes before they went into my smaller ones. I'm thinking maybe if I'd just give them the small option it'd be different.

I have one that an old member on the forum sells (sold). The one I have is for x-large skunks. I found our skunks were often too big for the trap. What I finally did was rebuild the trap putting the trip mechanism toward one end rather than in the middle like it came. Now when they go in and the gate comes down their hind end is in far enough that they can't back out. I have never had one spray as of yet.

Plasti-catch work way better than those tubes.

How do you give them a shot in those things? In the winter waters not an option and as dark as the inside of the tube must be so how do you tell one end from the other? I had a family call me with a skunk in one of those things. I ended up standing it up opening a door and giving it a poke all at close quarters I did not like that maybe there’s a better way that I missed.

The tube trap needs to be manufactured asfixiation ready for CO2, and plumbed for it and air tight…

Would not be hard to set that up.

If it works, I see a market for it.

Z Traps is what I have also. Amazing thing is the size of the coons that can stuff themselves into these traps. G.

Jerry, I find that I can just open the door and inject them. The skunk will usually face you hen you open the door and not attempt to come out since they can see you. Since they are facing you there is little chance of them spraying.

No joke. I've caught some 4X coon in these that were stuffed in so tight, they were hard to get out.

In winter, I got a drum in the shop with water I can put the tube in. Even a 5g pail worked in the past with them small tubes.
