Many people on social media reported feeling the ground shake and their house rattle today shortly after lunch. The local papers and TV stations are saying that there was an earthquake measuring 4.1 that occurred south of Hastings Nebraska... in central southern Nebraska just a few miles north of the Kansas/Nebraska border. I didn't feel it about 80 miles to the east, but many did. The news stations are reporting the quake was a little over 2 miles deep and about 86 or more miles long. We just don't see many earthquakes here.... but there have been a few in my almost 70 years !

Rattled the glasses in the cupboards here.

I live in the middle of tornado alley, and have never seen one.


But I have felt 2 earthquakes. One in winnemuca NV, and one here in central ne.

Hope everyone out there is good. I have family close to there. Looks like within 30 miles of where it "hit". So the middle of nowhere, beautiful place. My "remote trappers cabin" will be out there some day.

I felt it here too. Rattled the clock on the wall. And it sure got the dogs attention.

I experienced a 6.8 in year 2000, and a 7.8 in 2020.
Those are awe inspiring and unforgettable events.
But even little quakes remind us of how powerless we really are.
I enjoy earthquakes.

Almost forgot, we celebrated a friend's 25th birthday this past week, the February 28, 2000 earthquake caused his mom to go into early labor.

Was in three in the '70s and those lasted for 20 to 30 minutes, they are scary----natives called them "gurriers". We just drank more beer (SPL = South Pacific lager). Trees slipped down hill sides and ended up in the ocean as a huge raft of stripped tree logs, no branches or leaves or bark on them. Took out roads and totally changed the hil side and and river deltas. ......jk

I was getting gas one morning in Ohio and was standing there at the pump and thought man my truck is idling kinda rough b/c the bed rail was moving... didn't think much of it other than it seemed to be running ok... got to work and the headlines were I had just experienced a small earthquake. lol.
