You will never be locked out of your truck if you simple duct tape a spare key inside your tool box or on the inside of your gas cap cover door. My Ford Ranger with electric door locks has the buttons on the door arm rest and I am always hitting it and locking myself out. My spare key taped inside my tool box has saved me many times.

Zip tie an extra key underneath works great for opening the door as well.

Get stuck in sand, drop your tire pressure down to 5 or so psi, crawl right out.

Believe this story is from Slim Pederson. Got his truck stuck way out in the back of beyond. Nothing doing, had to hike a long long ways for help. Grabbed a bite and some sleep and headed back to pull truck out. Well, the temperature had dropped overnight and ground froze. Simply started the truck and drove out!

Pry out the seal. Its just rubber a gasket with grove in the middle on each side one for the truck body and one to hold the glass. The seal stays on the window. Pry it away from the truck get something to hold it a knife or screwdriver and work it down and around with another one. When you put it back in put a small think 1/16 to 1/8 rope or cord in the grove and place the window against the truck. One you get it started pulling the cord on the inside pulls the seal out even and against the inside of the truck keeping you from spending a lot of time with some thin tool working the seal out from under the window and where its supposed to be . Worked on a 94 Toyota and 92 f 250. New trucks may be different.

I probably didn't explain that very well. Maybe I can find something on line that shows it.

very easy to do with a nonslider and a seal that just came out. Your description makes perfect sense to me, because I have done it just that way. Now try and do the same thing with a seal that has been out of the rig and off the window for a few years, whole nuther ballgame. I once bought a Toyota with a canopy on it and a boot between the canopy and back window of the pickup. 89 extended cab, owner's wife's rig, he said it was for getting groceries out of the back, personally I'd have rather lowered the tailgate and crawled in that way than crawled in the backseat of a two door Toyota and then crawled through the back window, but whatever. He gave me the window and seal (not on the window) with the truck. Ended up soaking that seal in hot water for quite a while and it was still a major job to get it stretched to fit.

I had an axe in the back of the pickup, so I cut a small tree down and fashioned a wedge out of it. Done a little finishing work on it with my pocketknife. Ended up making two of them. I drove the wedge in between the door and door frame in the top back of door. Used the blade of the axe to get a small space to start the wooden wedges. Once I had a gap created, I cut a small sucker off a maple tree, long and skinny, and bent it into an arc. With this I was able to hit the door unlock. The pressure caused by the wedges won't allow the door to unlock until you remove them and release the tension. Door unlocked with no damage.

Interesting, I locked my keys in an 09 Tacoma a few years ago and used the antenna to hit the unlock button, tried it on both passenger and drivers side, would click but not unlock. Luckily the keys were laying in the front seat and had one of those stupid lock fobs on the key ring and I was able to bend the antenna enough to hit the button on the fob and then they unlocked. I think it was some feature of the truck that the unlock button wouldn't work with the keys in the vehicle but not in the ignition, but possibly if I hadn't had the door pried open it would have worked. Did do the same thing on the outfitters Dodge one time when a client locked the keys in it, and hitting the door unlock worked fine to unlock it while there was a wedge in the door.

I usually tape one under the bed rail, also almost never lock my truck, but just in case. Story I just told was in new to me truck, and while I had tried to have a spare made it wasn't cut right and didn't work, and I hadn't been back to town to have another cut. Also, these dang newer trucks with electronic locks will lock themselves I discovered. I had just gotten back to the truck, unlocked the drivers door and tossed the keys in the seat, then closed the door and heard it lock while I was getting stuff off the snowmachine. The fact that I have the door sensor disconnected so the buzzer doesn't go off all the time when I have the door open and keys in the ignition may have had something to do with locking itself.

I've cut that rear window seal with a
razor knife to get into the cab.
At that time the seal kit was 10 bucks.

Here's a sekert.
Adding fresh fuel to 10 year old fuel
does not make the old new again.

If you cant hit the door unlock button with yout hanger or wire to un lock the door. I have been able to hook and pull the door handle up and on a 99 f150 that also unlocked and opened the door. I couldn't see the handle on the side I was working on but was able to estimate it by looking at the opposite side pasanger door.

On my older, 88 GMC Jimmy, I got stuck way out in the woods because the 4wd would not engage. I pulled a vacuum line from the cruise control actuator and pugged into the 4wd actuator. Got me out of the woods.
