Bought some used traps that were supposed to be good user traps turns out they bind up on the jaws before locking up all the way. Have to put my full body weight on it to set usually just one side binds up. Checked them agains the same size and brand that I have and the levers had plenty of clearance. Any advice. These are 1.75 and when they bind up there harde to get free than a 4 coil #4

An angle grinder with a flap disk will polish up them jaw edges really quick and easy. That's what I'd do.

You said you’d compared the traps against your old that work properly, I’d suggest you compare them again but when you do, check in increments during the setting and firing, possibly blocking the jaws of both side by side(1/4 open-1/2 open, etc). There is a difference somewhere that will take some studying IMHO.

Are those spring leavers a bit twisted? If so, that may be the cause of your problem. If that's the problem, take a screwdriver and put it in the slot and twist until the leavers straightens out.

Are the 1.75s Dukes?

The jaws may have cut themselves a small grove in the lever's cheap metal. Knock that down with a file and you should be good to go.

Took the springs off to file them one side the jaws ride toward the top of the lever it goes all the way to lock up. On the other lever the jaw rides about half way up the lever and even with no springs sill not go to full lock up . I tried filing it looks like I would have to remove a substantial bit of metal for them to go all the way up. Also tried twisting with screw driver didn’t work
