What do you guys like to use for a Beaver fleshing beam? Just getting started on putting up fur and looking to get some supplies at the FTA this year. Going to get some beams form Top Lot Stretcher CO and I see they make a big beam 11 3/8" x 58". Do we need a wide one like that for beaver? Right now we have a parallel and a mini parallel knife. Looking for any and all tips on putting up beaver.

Thank you

No.

Get a beam that will fit all the animals you are trapping. Well, you will need a small beam for rats and mink but a 8" beam will work for everything else. And you can make your own. I bought a 2X8 doug fir plank and made my own.

My big beam is one I turned on a lathe. It is between 6 and 7 inches in diameter. I use that for about every thing. I do have one I also made that is around 4 inches in diameter. This one is used for otter or smaller sized animals. Mink, weasel I flesh them right on the boards they go on.
