I always make sure the pan sits level and pan pressure is right. Make sure traps are still tagged (if applicable) I also check swivels and j hooks. If you reuse cable anchors they also need inspection

I always make sure the pan sits level and pan pressure is right. First & foremost for me ^^^^^, I never took anything for granted. Every trap, every year!

If you didn’t make a catch, they should be good to go. FMJ is GOOD stuff and I often get years between recoating them. But, if you see signs of rust, it might be worth your while to strip and do them again. I don’t know if you are dealing with acidic soils or what your situation is, so check them over, get the big chunks of dirt off, pull out the grass stuck between the jaws, and box them up for next season.
Never too old to learn

Unless you're seeing rusting popup with FMJ'd traps, no reason to redo them. Spray em off and hang is all you need to do on them.

Take a good look at the coils to see it dirt/mud got packed in them around the rods that hold the coils. Lots of clay in my area and on a damp day a coyote can have those coils plugged full of mud. I always check those areas and hit them with the pressure washer when I'm cleaning traps prior to dye and wax. I don't like the thought of that mud staying in there, drying out and then absorbing ambient moisture while being stored.
Trail cameras and fresh snow have broke a lot of trapper’s hearts.

I give every trap a once over, setting and firing, chains & cables etc. I find my 330's need the most attention as they're in use year round. I also find different water systems are harder on the steel than others. My good well tuned 120-180s get cleaned and waxed, my 330's don't get the wax dunk. The wax stays on pretty good depending on the action the trap sees, some will get another dunk this spring. A bit of FMJ to brush up any kill bars that may have the wax rubbed off. FMJ is pretty good and tough, but after I tried waxing my little 120s this fall, there's no comparison to the speed and smoothness when the trap fires.......but it's imperative that it's waxed properly. There should be good info in the archives on this. The trap has to be perfectly tuned for wax too, or you'll wind up with sore fingers or empty snapped traps, triggers gotta be solid yet ready to fire.
