I’ve tanned a few furs using Boco’s guide and I’ve had good results. The leather finishes soft, not greasy or dry, and the fur ends up perfect.

However, I have a hard time getting the leather to a smooth finish. Portions of each fur always end up like the photos attached (a bobcat) - lots of tags that I usually trim by hand. The photo with the tape measure is before the final wash and the other is the final product.




My only guess is I’m not fleshing the membrane off completely?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
