This one seems to be on the rise:

https://www.cdc.gov/ticks/tickbornediseases/anaplasmosis.html

I know two people that had it this fall.

I had Ehrlichiosis in 2008. Sickest I have ever been. Urgent Care Lymes tests kept coming back negative but lucky for me my Doc had diagnosed his Dad with it and got me going on Doxy. Still feeling some of the effects of it and don't ever want to get it again.

I also had ehrlichiosis. Was very sick, fever, body aches, headache. Dr said it was like Lyme disease on steroids buuut, no long term effects.

I caught anaplasmosis a couple of years ago from a tick bite while trapping. Terrible disease. Had fever and chills at same time, hallucinations. Ended up in hospital, affected my kidneys, liver, and heart. Nurse told me later that I came very close to death. It led into dyverticulitis, C-Diff, and ulcerative colitis. Doctor told me that he had patients that died from it. Far worse than Lymes disease. Take precautions!

I had a case of it. It caused a lot of internal bleeding and joint pain. Took the doctors over a year to diagnose it. Doxycycline straightened me out somewhat. Still not 100%

Had a guy i work with tell me that he went shed hunting yesterday and had 7 ticks on him and 1 was stuck on. It's early for that. Sounds like it's going to be a bad year

Spray your outdoor clothing with permethrin, it really helps.

I think they're evolving. Out earlier and active later in the year.
Hate is a strong word, but I hate ticks. Nof50 knows more, but the only good thing I know they do is being a food source for birds.
Thay can take off IMHO.

I pulled a tick off three days ago. Head was imbedded. So far just a red bump...feel fine. Been a long time since I had one imbed.

My daughter in law is a Vet Tech. She was telling me about a new tick that is born pregnant. She also told me there is a book and the title is Bitten. Is anyone familiar with this or read the book ?

That's the Asian longhorn tick, they can reproduce by themselves...

I'm not afraid of most anything, but ticks and their diseases scare me....
