Hello All,

Where would you suggest to buy a quality bear trap like a Newhouse or Blake and Lamb looking for 1 or 2 for my bear camp. Trying to add some novelty to camp. Any advice would be appreciated and have a good weekend. Joe

If you want an authentic Newhouse bear trap - like a #5 or #15 - be prepared to pay $1000.00 or so for a really nice one. A #6 (even bigger) will probably set you back two grand or more.

A B&L bear trap will be even more.

Jim River Supplies out of Vermillion, SD sells very nice reproductions for $300.00 to $400.00.

There are other reproductions out there as well.

I understand that there is def going to be a price difference. Not looking for a deal just would like a true part of history- the Dukes and whatever just doesnt do it for me. Are trapping conventions any good for looking for bear traps

I see you are from Wisconsin. The WTA rondy is held in Antigo in September. There are always a number of bear traps offered by tailgaters and indoor vendors.

I got one from Nwtrappers.com over 25 years ago and it is nothing like the cheap dukes, it weighs 50 pounds and is heavy duty.

That's a neat trap, Flipper. I've got a #15 that I enjoy looking at, and would like to get a #6. I'd really like an original, but it's too dang much money for me.

I got this one back in the day for 325.00 I think. It is heavy for sure. It has teeth that overlap on the jaws too.

I was going to post a picture of mine, but Muskrat showed up and won the cool trap contest. Very cool trap and story!
