I saw this on facebook. Notice what he says ....he got alot of GOOD fur at the Mississippi fur sale. Yall fur did not go to the crafters trade. A fur buyer thats buying fur based on its grade...not on the state its been caught in is what ya need. I hope yall southern guys decide to trap next year... at the very least the more fur ya got the more buyers the sale will attract, which in most cases means more money for the trapper. Congrats to all yall that had fur on the sale this year. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2026/03/full-53-287612-messenger_creation_6b50e396_3d24_4c64_836b_86965c511642.jpeg)

Different fur, different prices. Not according to the 1st post. Everyone should expect to get the same price in MS that NV paid, or drive to western auctions and get $1000 for that MS cat, instead of $100 in MS.

He bought the majority of my fur.........was glad to have him there. Do you agree with this price list. Substantially less prices than the western and northern states results that have been posted on here. Absolutely. I averaged 57.50 on my otter. $50 for a no-account cat........ I have no complaints...... well, other than my 1 skunk lol
The devil's greatest trick isn't making us think he doesn't exist. It's flattering us. So we don't see..... the devil is us.

Dang dixieland...where have you been lately?....those Mississippi auction AVERAGES definitely compare to the western state's recent auctions. Notice that cathryn stated "based on grade." Mink = $15+ Grey Fox = $20+ Reds = $19+ Coyotes = $39+ (very surprising) Cats = $102+ Otter = $56+ Beaver = $18+ Skunk = $17+ Coons are weak in all of North America. But, if you think a southern US bobcat will ever bring what a high desert bobcat will bring then you’ve never ran your fingers thru a western bobcat's fur. Go to a national convention and find the Fur Harvester's Auction booth.....they will likely have some western pelts on display....run your fingers thru that heft and see what you think.

Coyote $39 average. Very nice Different fur, different prices. Not according to the 1st post. Looks like good prices for southern fur.

Mercy, where to begin. First off what drag's average's down at these sales is the wet slipping junk that gets a wet slipping price! As for the rats, they were about the size of a house mouse, hadn't even turned brown yet best i could tell. Not put up either but green. The cats were the star of the sale, most i saw brought more than they normally would be worth, small, no spots, brown bellie's, etc. And majority of those cats were green as well, not put up!
As for buyer's over there, a few i remember and those drive certain items up in price as they have direct order's from China or where ever to fill, they are not buying and shipping to fur harvestor or whatever. Most of those 'buyers' that use to buy there and ship to NAFA are no longer around for obvious reasons. Hough seems to be a newer one to the sale, hopefully he makes some money and returns. That sale is now about 1/4 of what it use to be in the late 90's. But i didn't see as much dog chewed up coon hide's, that use to ALWAYS keep the average price looking bad when in reality if you had well put up pelts normally you would get top price for them.
Having a furrier buying doesn't hurt either as he needs raw product to make his coats, hats, mitts, etc. and might pay a few bucks more than the fur is worth on the fur market. Holloway Furs has been buying there long as ive been going over there which i imagine is around 30 years!
