Its getting close to the end of the season for cutting ironwood, or hop hornbeam. I like to cut it before the sap really gets up. Ironwood will split terribly if it dries too fast, so I like to start with the driest green wood possible. Spent an hour finding some nice straight ones. Ironwood likes to spiral, and that is no good for bows. They will get peeled and sawn into staves over the next couple weeks.

No where near me. I have heard there is some in SW Wisconsin.

Honestly, I prefer ironwood over Osage.

I had a mountain top full of Ironwood at my place....used it for tool handles, wish I knew about using it for bows, might have been able to make a few bucks on it...

Thats the plan with most of this load. I'll pick a couple to keep, the rest get sold.
