Do you all remove it or no? My son had his first red fox tanned and the guy didn't do it and the hair is falling out of the ears. Now that he is purring up his own fur he was going to have some fox and a couple coyotes tanned. Do we need to remove it? Or was it just a bad tanning job that caused the hair to slip?

The thin areas like ears are the first to start to spoil if is is somewhat warm when skinning and prepping the pelt. Most likely poor handling and bacteria growth prior to tanning caused the fur to slip. Taxis use a product called Stop Rot to try to avoid bacteria damage to sensitive areas during handling prior to tanning. Heat and moisture are a recipe for slipping fur.
