I was recently hospitalized for an inection down in my left foot and now there is talk of a partial or even total amputation. I'm looking forward to the appointment I have with the specialist on Wednesday but as you can imagine this whole thing has me worried. What"s good for me may not be good for the weak minded. gcs trapper G Joined: Dec 2006 South shore L.I. N.Y.	If it's in the bone that's troublesome, only a very strong antibiotic can touch it and it may make you sick, or allergic.... My wife fought a bone infection in her shattered leg from a horse running over her, she was actually scheduled for an amputation, but it was canceled...she ended up at a infectious disease specialist that got it under control with a super antibiotic intravenously, but she developed an allergic reaction from the meds that almost killed her..... anyway, an infectious disease specialist might be an option if you don't already have one.
