It's been a day or two but I used to build several double boxes. I just finished this one.

I went to the dentist awhile back (an ole friend) went to pay the bill and he says no charge, I'm like heck yeah awesome. Anyhow it's going to this fellow.
If you ask me it sounds fantastic, most of my calls are slightly higher pitch with lot's of rasp. I think the high pitch drive them to gobble. Just my opinion.

I used to sell a few and traded with other call makers it was an interesting ride, life gets busy and something had to give, I'm hoping in the next couple of years I might be able to build a few, only and if and God willing that my hands and shoulders can handle the punishment.

Woah!!! Nice!
I remember being in grade school and we made one with a solo cup, string, and a small sponge on the end of the string which, when moistened, you would drag down the string.

Looks good. Thought I would hear some gobbling this morning but didn't (from the back yard). Will have to see if I can find the ones I made in shop class in high school. Walnut, looked rough, sounded rough, but man I was a genuine turkey hunter (had never shot one yet).

Nice looking call. Walnut/cedar makes a good sounding call imo. I like that yalk you get at the end of the yelp with cedar.

Very nice looking call.

Is the bottom carved out of one piece?

Yep, that's mostly done by hand with a wood chisel, it takes lot's of strength, the lid takes lots of sanding, then once you pair them, then you tune it, then finish it, then fine tune it. The finish will change the sound. Then once you get one to call your own protect it, meaning don't let other people run it.

That sounds like an interesting school project, did it sound like a turkey?
