I made a post the other day about were do critters go when it floods
I’m not a big time beaver guy,, maybe 4o-50 beaver a season,
My question is this,,, on a creek,, where sign was previously seen,,, would the beaver still be there after the water goes down or do they move on??

foxkidd,
The only way to know that is to go look for fresh sign.

Depends how low it goes too. I've seen ones that dug out a ditch near a culvert as the drought came on a few years ago started. They made it up to July before finally giving up and heading to the river 1/2 a mile away to fight for new territory. I've trapped small shallow ponds in winter where the only channel from the lodge to the feed bed wasn't frozen solid. Easy pickings.

They do come back if food is there for the most part. With major flooding, they might not come back for a while depending on the time of year this happens.
