Banana belt , is that what we are calling it now ?

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Well, compared to "up north" . . . this is indeed the banana belt. ;0)

And I'll take it. River stays open longer in the fall/early winter and is already open now. I love my boats and would rather operate on open water versus on top the ice. Snow comes and goes without it being a PIA. Ice fishing can be had in the back sloughs, as well as trapping 'rats and beaver through the ice.

I believe it was Trader Vic that christened this part of the Lower Wisconsin River valley as the "banana belt.". Works for me.

Depending on the major course it takes we are somewhere between 4 and 12. Quite a bit of Sunday early could be rain or a mix and that could keep snowfall totals lower.
We hauled 900 plus gallons of sap Friday, 748 gals Saturday and will collect again today so the buckets won't have a lot of sap freezing Tuesday and Wednesday. Collecting yesterday AM in the 35-50 mph winds was an ordeal for sure. Have line up several indoor tasks for Sunday and Monday.

Just got in from getting stuff put away, shovels placed, stuff tied down, feeders filled, and the Badger Basketball game just started. Got a fridge full of food, leftover roast/potatoes and gravy and Guinness Stout so I think we will survive. With a 250 acre wide open field right on the north side of our road things might get exciting if we get a lot of wind. Not going to sweat it.

Our trees in the two woods we collected today were dripping fast. We thought we would get 4-500 gallons and we got 700! The last 3 days we collected 2386 gallons of sap that averaged 2.7 sugar. Now it looks like a week off for us. Lots of things to catch up on the next 2-4 days.

We were in the 2-3 feet forecast. Down to 1-2 feet now.

We raised the temp a few degrees in the apartment in anticipation of the power going out and taking awhile to restore, sometime during or after the storm.

How's everybody holding up? Where I'm at just north of Green Bay I've already cleared the driveway twice today and it doesn't seem to be slowing down at all. I bet we've gotten all of 18-20" already, hard to tell with the wind blowing it around everywhere. Just got in from my 2nd round of snowblowing and shoveling off the back porch so that doesn't collapse. Already watched The Day After Tomorrow, may watch Jerimiah Johnson next.

It's getting to the point I don't know how the plows are going to get through it. I guess they will do their best. I don't plan to leave the house tomorrow if I don't have to. Either call in to work or work from home. School canceled tomorrow already.

Couple hours north of Green Bay and it is getting deep. They are calling for up to 4 feet here and if it keeps up like it is then I am sure we will hit that if not exceed it. I will clean out around the furnace vent again before dark and in the morning. Supposed to be 28 more hours here before its over.

Southwest sheboygan county, we've got maybe an inch from overnight, its been freezing drizzle all day. Driveway has an inch or so of slush on it. Not much you can do with that. I'd rather have all snow.

We probably have the 20 inches they were predicting. As said, hard to measure with the wind blowing it off the lake into our yard and blowing it off the roof onto our drive. At least it's not wet enough t clog up the blower. Just had some turkeys walk through the yard very slowly. I think they bottomed out and their feet couldn't reach deep enough to get any traction.

North of La Crosse... I shoveled 6-8" of slush/snow. So wet it clogged the snowblower. Wanted to get it cleaned up a little before it froze. Thunder and lightning during the night. Just about everything already closed for tomorrow.

What's next...locusts?
