I got in it today again. Have been able to stay out of it since November. I got caught by the wrist in November right before leaving for vacation in Mexico. Today was just half of the left hand. The Belisles sure do grab you fast! I’m sure it’s not going to be the last time for me. I still remember Bob Gilman watching me set marten traps telling me how I was to comfortable around them and was going to get caught.

I keep a battery angle grinder in my vehicle when I’m using 330s. Never had to cut one….yet.

Ouch, never a good time.

Every time I hear about someone getting nailed by a 330, I click the little bone chip in my right thumb as a reminder to focus on what I am doing while setting for beaver.

I've only every been caught once in the 2 years I've beaver trapped (whi h is not a lot lol) but it was bc (and always is) I was going too fast, being dumb, and not paying enough attention. I had an untripped trap shoved down in the mud at a castor set I, without thinking, didn't see the trap and stepped down into the water to find it and got a 330 foot extension lol. it wasn't bad to get off and nothing hurt. did learn some lesson that day and was much more weary when I didn't see the trap

In November I got to go to Mexico on vacation with a black and blue right wrist and hand. That one hurt pretty good. This one not nearly as bad. Maybe tomorrow I’ll change my mind. I used to have one of them safety things, not sure where it went have not seen it in years. Trapping beaver on nuisance jobs I’m always in a hurry, just part of the game I guess.

When it happens to me it is generally such a shock that I can't even remember exactly how I managed to let that happen. Hurrying is generally part of it.

One memorable time I had everything perfect and ready to walk away when a little branch dropped down into the opening and I tried flicking it out of the way not realizing that the trigger wires were slightly protruding towards me. Rode back to boat landing wearing a Belisle bracelet and got a homeless guy to help me get out. All he had to do was slip the safety dog over after I compressed the spring.

Guess I was lucky, to never be caught in a 330.
220 Ouch broke my thumb.
Never got caught in anything bigger than a NO. 2 foothold.
A 1 1/2 hurt more than the NO. 2.

Ohio, 220's hurt worse than 330's. My worst experience was with a 220 BMI Magnum. Nerve damage there.

I agree with that. When I was a teenager I managed to lose my grip while setting a bmi 220, and it latched onto my belly fat. My old man was with me, and once he realized exactly what happened, he proceeded to laugh so hard that he struggled to help me get the trap off.
