I almost had to wear a bag after a bout of it. I used to eat a lot of sunflower seeds and tomatoes, no more of that. Seeds can be the worst to cause and infection. The smaller the worse. Strawberries raspberries etc...eggplant, kiwi, tomatoes or any hard nuts like peanuts, cashew etc.. are what I avoid just to name a few

My dad has it as well. He ended up having 12 inches of his colon cut out and he still struggles with it from time to time. Cutting back on red meat and processed foods, nuts, popcorn, or anything thing that might get stuck in your colon or not digest well causing a flare up

Multiple occasions of inflammation and scarring over years resulted in a blockage in my sigmoid colon. My body grew a fistula that bypassed the blockage, luckily not like what happened to Keith's wife. Couldn't get a scope up my colon and cancer was a concern so they removed my sigmoid colon (the last 9-12 inches) and connected the rest together (called a resection). Didn't have to go on a bag at all because I was able to get cleaned out prior to surgery. Recovery was longer than expected but it all worked out fine with no residual effects. That was 16 years ago.
Note: This was from diverticulitis (inflammation) and not diverticulosis (pockets forming in the colon).

watch your diet , don't put off symptoms , eat what keeps you in a good BM every day so you don't get backed up.
My dad has Diverticulitis and has been in the hospital for it a couple times.
that got him to eat a little salad once in a while , the man hates green vegetables eating a salad was a chore now he does it fairly often it is less of a chore than being sick.
his idea of a vegetable is buttered sweet corn
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

A little over a year ago, I was dealing with the ‘itis version. Made me a very sick dude . A few weeks in the hospital and a few surgeries to correct it . Do not recommend.
My wife took a picture after my second surgery , the one where they removed the damaged part and installed the colostomy bag ( the Pride Purse) . The photo was taken in response to a comment my Dad made. It really fired her up, so she took that pic with me having drains, a nasal gastric tube in place, and the Purse with the caption,” Your boy is fighting sepsis. You just about lost him.” . Kinda shut that conversation down. I won’t be sharing that pic, there’s youngsters about.
I’m all pieced back together, now. But what an ordeal. What caused it ? No idea. That’s a direct quote from my surgeons, the infectious diseases doctor, and the hospitalist. Sometimes, it just happens.
Honor a Soldier. Be the kind of American worth fighting for.

My wife has it. She can't eat any dairy products such as ice cream, milk, etc. If she does she lives on the toilet. That really flares it up for her. My proctologist always tells me not to eat white bread, only wheat or rye. He said white bread has trouble going through your digestive system and can cause blockage which can lead to serious problems.
When you're 20 and drop something you pick it up. When you're 80 you decide you don't need it anymore.
