Nessy, that reminds me of a stud horse I trained for a cowboy years ago. He had a nice ram that free roamed the place.

It was sometimes a challenge feeding the stud when I had him loose in the corral . That ram would see me carrying Chico's feed and run to squeeze under the fence and try and take some.

He always frowned at me and I carried a crop around the place to threaten him with, and used not a few times too.

One day that ram charged Chico as he was peacefully enjoying his hay, minding his own business. He ran into Chico's chest so hard I saw his thick neck muscles absorb the shock. Chico pinned his ears and plowed that ram with both front hooves. Then picked him off the ground in his teeth and slung him several feet away. The ram was a big one, as you described about yours. He couldn't get under the fence fast enough getting away as Chico nailed him several more times with those front feet.

It impressed upon me just how nice horses are with humans , in general.

I had some peace for a while after that
