Kind of an odd tradition, but every year since my oldest was about four years old we have attempted to catch the leprechaun that shows up to cause mischief on St Patrick's night. They've never caught the little guy, but they keep trying. This years set involves dollar coins and 50 cent pieces for bait, with a commemorative presidential copper coin on the pan. Emmett put the trap in the arts and crafts box to keep Savell the cat from getting pinched. Wish them luck. Lol. [Linked Image]

Love it!

Shot of Jamison in there would sweeten the set a bit. grin

If they manage to catch the little bugger, I'll be expecting a cut of the gold.
Didn't have any Jamison on hand, but that's a solid bait idea for next year.

A Triumph 115X seems like the perfect trap too. What do you expect to get for a prime, green ( grin) pelt?

I have nothing clever to put here.

A full pot of gold. Otherwise I'm afraid Emmett is going to get creative with his dispatch methods.

Is he familiar with the famous "White17 Paper Bag trick"?

Big Sam, that is a GREAT tradition...I hope you catch that little ba$$tard one of these years! I applaud anyone that is willing to keep traditions alive and well!

Good stuff Sam, we did the same when my boy was young. Gold dollars are good bait. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a little rag of green cloth in that trap in the morning, they are hard to hold.

Lol. About three years ago George caught some red beard hairs in a #0 longspring. The hairs looked a lot like the hair on one of my bucktail jigs. The next year he set an old #3, figuring that a bigger trap might grab him better.
I'm glad other folks are helping in the pursuit of these little varmints.

You can use Savell the cat to threaten the Leprechaun and then bag him up.

Get em some of these. Once they have a taste, they’ll be driven to become better leprechaun trappers!

You’re a good father, cute idea there Big Sam!

Good idea, Smash. I'll have to order a package to put with the Jamison next year.

The humanoid variety pack is fun. There’s werewolf, chupacabra, yeti, mermaid and more. All made with different types of game meat
