Made an order last week from the boss and from MTP. I have a beaver trapping trip coming up next week and I went through my stuff and decided I needed a few items. Something went wrong, probably with my computer, when I tried to select my free gift on the MTP website. I emailed them and Nicole was very helpful in getting me the free gift I wanted. Great customer service from both places! ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2026/03/full-272-288269-img_1237.jpeg) I went to start a fire and boil the grease off the new traps this morning when I discovered that my pot had a leak in the bottom. So I had to do them in a big 12 quart stock pot, three at a time, on the kitchen stove. My wife wasn’t real happy about it. I’ll make it up to her.
Eh...wot?

Good deal Lugnut. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Looking forward to seeing your trips results. Maybe you could post some pics. I love trappimg beaver too
I talked to Nicole just this week too. She was a delight to talk with. MTP is great to do business with. Top notch company.

At least you’re not boiling skulls No, that’s definitely an outside job, too stinky for in the house.

If you're not going to dye your traps do you think you need to clean your traps that under water. I think I would just do adjustments and set them. I'm not going to dye them before the trip. They had a thin grease coating on them that turned your fingers black when you handled them. I boiled them with some dawn dish soap and that cleaned the grease off pretty good.

Thanks 3togo, I did actually pour a bit of vinegar over them last night and this morning there is light rust where it laid on them. I will get a spray bottle and give them some more after I hookup the drowning cables. I want to try some vinegar to take the shiny off the new snares too.

Tell your wife you're gonna clean your traps in the dishwasher and tell her it won't hurt the dishwasher a bit because it doesn't That's where I used to do all my belief.Three thirties Of course. My advice is that of a bachelor

LOL 330, I should probably take your marital advice with a grain of salt. Anyhow, most of the grease has been cleaned off of them and I’m gonna give them a couple of sprays of vinegar over the next several days, see if I can get a light coat of rust on them. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2026/03/full-272-288379-img_1253.jpeg)

I’ve never understood the “light coat of rust idea”. When I get new traps, I wash in buckets of warm water and Dawn, rinse, dry, spray paint the color I want and dip in Full Metal Jacket. Now I’m mostly using snares. They get spray painted as I make them. Some are black for beavers but most are tan for canines and coon.
At my age, I don’t buy green bananas nor make doing things any harder than they have to be.
Never too old to learn

I just don’t want them to be shiny for the beaver trapping trip I’m leaving for on Saturday teacher. I’ve never painted traps. I’m a dye and wax guy. Traps need to have a light coat of rust on them to take a good, dark coat of dye.
IDK, maybe the beavers wouldn’t care about shiny.

The NOBS traps come with the black coating on them. Very durable.

Nice traps, do they come already dyed? Yep that was one of the selling points for me. Never tried anything from no B's before.
