Bleach, peroxide or other chemicals can do wonders for those southern cats. And some times heavy isn’t the best option. There are certain people that look better in a flatter fur coat.

You got it.
Guys who are reaping the rewards are guys that trap and manage the resource regardless of price.
Trying to chase the market is a loser.

Hate to tell this, but I did not trap much when marten wouldn't sell and am not a loyal FHA shipper and yet I just reaped the rewards of this sale on marten.

Best sales are when the fur market demand surprises all, and volumes can't meet the demand .... Always believed that continuous shipping of fur, year in/ year out is the way to do it.... Real happy to see Marten and Lynx rise - suspect (hope) this is sustainable even with increased supply. Bobcats... wow that is something too.

Getting $18 for a short tail weasel kind of crazy too, have a nice pile of big longtails plus shorts for next sale.

Also pleasantly surprised to see Beavers start rising again! My next beaver shipment has more heavies/shearing types then this sale shipment..... but as some have mentioned, the hatter market seems to picking up the bottom end as well.

Great to see the new price levels - More trappers in the field, more relevance for our industry and I am sure the trapping supply businesses are looking forward to more sales!

With exception of perhaps coyotes, sure was fun watching the bidding on YouTube.... Ken and Mark sure do well running up the bids!

The reality is that most people in most situations that continued to ship fur over the last ten or so Years continued to lose money. But yes this was a great sale for the wanted items.

Maybe Boco will see this post and have some notion about it...but I wonder if with this season's big beautiful cash windfall for the auction, if those of us that have held on to our revenue sharing dividends might see an interest payment? Or for that matter if more dividends might be distributed? Everything is paid off at FHA by now isn't it?

And Amen for what a great friggen fur sale that has just concluded!!!!!

I am very glad that I will have fur up there for June. Congrats to FHA for getting an agent again for my region.

Trappers….. why are some always chasing the market but always lagging just behind it…..lol.
How many bobcaters are gonna come out of the wood work now?
Are some of the trappers whose fur was held over for what seemed like a good price still ticked off?
I’ve never been burnt sending to FHA. Why these little stupid fights keep popping up twice a year just shows how short some memories are.
Each trapper has his reasons why they market their fur the way they choose, each to their own. It’s the FHA bashers that are consistently proven wrong, but come right back to try again……lol
I tried calling my buddy that tried to get me to sell to the ice cream truck, but he’s not picking up. I’d be ticked off too.
All producers will benefit from this auction, some more than others.

Big kudos to the boys and girls at FHA for putting on an awesome auction, more to come in the near future.

I'm surprised that a friend that sold $8 PA. Red fox at a district sale last year, and this year shipped PA. fox up to FHA and averaged $32. Been A very long time since we've seen monumental increases in prices like this. AND, his 7 mink averaging almost exactly 10X what they sold for last year. BOCO's right about this setting a new bar for the fur market. I hope it continues!!!

Bingo!

We all know I’m a little thick, but I don’t understand?
They lost money sending their fur to FHA or just auctions in general? Or are you taking about trappers spending piles of $$ on gear and covering hundreds of miles for little return? There are the rare few that can market their fur in many different ways like Boco, but there’s a place for the poor paying small beaver and coon too. I sent mine into every auction, but things will change soon. I can do better with the little stuff. The only time I found a better price than auction is selling animal frozen whole to taxis, which I don’t do often.
But this is just my case, I don’t pile up the costs like I did starting up. Gear is long paid for.
People say “What about your time spending 10hrs on a wolf or other furs? Your time is worth something.” My answer is that I don’t get paid sitting on the couch (we know some lazy swines do….lol) but I guess I could pump gas in the evening when I’m not working my regular job, but I’m too lazy, I just want to trap……..lol

Good to see some price advances and high clearances as some of the goods may not have been fresh goods. Interesting that the top lot for wild mink was only $15 higher then the overall average. There may have been a lot more interest in mink then some would have projected.

I hardly know a soul here that ships to auction. I don’t even know why that is, it’s pretty much an hobby for them all and it isn’t what actually pays the bills, it’s fun money. They’re all happy to sell to a buyer quickly for cash in hand. I averaged 50 Canadian more per fisher than them and I won’t be telling them. lol

They can sell stuff for quick cash this coming Friday in the back of the Subway restaurant, I’ll wait until early April and send an even better bag of fur than what I had this go round. (Shoulda sent more)

Cheryl there at FH is great too. She answers emails same day even though I imagine she’s opening hundreds.
