Was planning on doing it anyway before the surge in the mink market..
I’ve got several dozen 110 that I’m just going to pop a spring off and make into 120…
It’s easier to just build a box with 2 slots for 2 springs to stabilize instead of trying to fool with just one and trying to use a clip or other things.

Is there any tips you guys have on making it a little easier to open up the spring eyes??
I figured I could close them back up using my bench vise.

Channel locks and a vise seems to work for all sizes of BGs.

foxkid,
your mailbox is full.

But, I simply bought extra springs and added one spring to some of my 110's. You'll figure out the easiest way.

I did that to one of my 110's, that sucker spinned around so fast and got both thumbs, lol.
Had all I could do to get out of it...

Where did you buy the extra springs? I've thought of doing this to some of my 110s, but I would want to know that the spring configuration was the same as the existing spring on them, so they would fit in the same size slots in my boxes and not want to twist or be unstable when I bent the springs to hold the trap in the box.

I converted a couple dozen 110s to 120s a long time ago. I had a few different brand, some with small spring eyes, others with large ones.
As usual, I bought 2 dozen from Minnesota trapline Supply, and they had small eyes. It worked alright, and if you are targeting mink and/or marten, I would certainly recommend doing the conversion. That said, I ended up just selling the converted traps and buying Belisle 120s. I never regretted that decision. The difference between Belisle traps and all the other body-grip traps is painfully clear once you handle them.

Just doing what I want now.

If you are stealing springs of your 110s I wouldnt do it. That only leaves you half the traps. I would much rather have 10 bottom edge set (or any blind set) Than 100 wood cubbies. Maybe boxes work in your area but they are not real productive in mine.

i would agree with you most makes dont compare too the belisle except ldl and sauvageau probably why duke started to copy them and i also would agree just buying new 120 whatever make is probably easier than buying extra springs and installing and keep the 110 for bottom edge sets and muskrats
