I double checked a buddies lot numbers for him to be sure, he couldn't believe it. All were caught in December, but he only had (27). I guess waiting a while lets the spring kits grow, and they all put on a lot more fur in December. These all made semi-heavy with (4) in the heavy section, with one Slt. Dam. that he said was a little chewed. This is pretty impressive a change in one year. He waited a month because of the impending and late arrival of his first grandchild. I told him to put the five grand in a fund indexed to the S&P and he might have enough to pay for the kids college education. $202 average, and a couple pennies.

I recall a $122 avg for Wyoming marten that everybody was ooing and awing over a few weeks back. On the other hand, they already have that money in hand and supported their association in selling it at home.

Carl, yes it's good to support the Association for certain. Bear in mind these were later caught marten by a guy that does a pretty fancy job of fur preparation. Does anybody have an idea of how much size the young of the year put on with an extra six weeks of time in the fall? I know they put on a lot of fur in that time.

As long as juvenile mammals are eating and prospering they are growing. But for sure the growth rate will have slowed down from what it was during the summer months. That's my guess.

Around here YOY die a lot. If you trap later there are less YOY to catch.

Juvenile marten are same size as average adults by end of october.Its in your fur bible.Many studies done on it and verified by trapline experience..
Some older marten may have an inch or so in pelt length on an average adult.
Individuals get heavier and rounder when living off a jackpot but pelt size is same.

Season for marten in Southeast Alaska doesn't even start until December 1st.

There is 200 to 300 grams differences gained weight, anything over 1 kg should go to 2x size
every year is different in semi to heavys in their finish
getting over 1-11 does change over late Nov to 1st
So that wait he went up 100$ in his grades averages

I have tried waiting till Dec. made no difference on size, still an inch or so short of xl. Maine Marten.
