Found an old fishing rod leaning up against a tree. Was a long way from any water.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Kinda weird a guess, found a dead head few years back. Turned out to be a deer a famous pop country singer shot with a local outfitter and never could find it.

When I was trapping In Canada, I found a 30-30 and a Reminton 870 shotgun leaning against a tree. They had been there a long time.

Found a large garbage bag of dried weed way back in on an old bush trail when hunting in september one year.
Took me and a buddy several months to smoke it all.

I found pot growing inside chicken wire cages a couple times. Not me, but a downstate fellow was trout fishing back in a local remote swamp a few years back and he ran into a commercial sized grow operation.....had camo netting strung over it, and a well equipped tent camp with enough supplies to have been set up by several men. They had an elaborate kitchen tent that had strings of dried chili peppers hanging up. It was believed to be a cartel operation. The police used helicopters to go in and take care of stuff. Considering this ain't Humboldt County, California I was always surprised at the amount of weed grown back in the day. Had an old buddy that was on a multi-agency drug task force team that would fly in choppers several times a summer/fall to search for pot growing in corn fields, woods, etc. I asked him how often they found it and he said literally every flight they made found some.

I found a skeleton of a deer in a crotch of a tree. I figured the deer jumped over this log and landed in the tree.

Many years ago, my buddy and I were squirrel hunting in the Allegan State Forest. We came upon a cardboard box that had a litter of dead puppies in it.
Really sad, don't know how people can do that.

Those who've mentioned finding the deceased ...the public areas just North of Lawton, OK.,( The. Shady 580) I like to hunt and fish, I anticipate coming across a body. Every time. Between the criminal activity and prevalent drug use, I'm surprised I haven't by now.

How about finding this homemade boat 1/2 mile from the nearest road and about 100 yds from the creek on the high-bank. Looked like two old car hoods welded together, even appeared to have a transom for an outboard?? Go figure!

I run pointing dogs for Grouse and Woodcock. One spring day I was out hoping to find a few woodcock during there spring migration. We were almost back to the road when my dog went on point, but he was acting real different. He would point then take a few steps then back up. He did that several times before I got to him. That's when I saw it . There was a child's blanket wrapped around a body and stuffed into a brush pile. I collared my dog and stood there for a long minute before heading for the truck and drive to a spot for cell service. I walked about 50 yds down the road towards my truck before stopping. I stood there for a bit before I headed back ( I had to know). Finally I took my pocket knife and cut a slit in the blanket. The thick black hair was from someones Black lab. I still after 20 years think about it when I head to the woods.
