Well finally gonna be ordering a stock for the wife's. 270 vanguard. The two we have for it just don't fit her and she likes the ones I've modified on my builds so going with a standard boyds pro varmint and get the Sanders out . Anyhow don't wanna paint this one , wanna give it a stain with clear coat but I just cant figure out what to use. I dont mess with stain too much.Trying to find something that's got a feminine vibe to it ( she likes her stuff like that ) but isn't just pink or purple or something . Got any ideas ?

What species of wood will the stock be? Will there be any figure in it?

Why don't you let her go with you to pick out the stain color she likes? Personally, I prefer walnut.

Some things she like tk pick some things she likes me to . And firearms is one of em. Also its a little bit of a surprise. She knows I'm doing something with it , she knows she's getting a new stock but that's about it lol. According to her my projects are never as good when I do then 100% step by step , something about more soul idk lol

All boyds says is they're hard wood laminate

A lot of public libraries, like even our tiny county one, have Glow Forges now. They are free to use. A Glow Forge is a 3D cutter and engraver. You can do very fine detail with it. It works great on wood and people use them on gun stocks.

If you have access to one at your library, or elsewhere, I recommend coming up with a design that is meaningful to your wife and making her an incredibly personal gun stock she will treasure forever.
