My daughter was out on a few mile walk with her dog and came across this track. Took a picture with her foot for size reference.. Her foot is a 7.8 to 8 in women's. And yes she will go without shoes every where she can.

Why is there only 4 toes showing on that track when a coon has five ? I may not be seeing the other one .

I have no clue. Was not there. The kid was walking the dog at a trail 3 miles from the house saw the track thout it was huge for a coon and took the picture. She used to hunt fish and trap a lot. Still spends a lot of time outside.

Looks like he may have been sliding sideways a bit making track larger. Still a huge critter imo.

This is a great explanation looking now almost seems like ther may be a 5th toe track on the up hill out side taht has mud pushed over it as well.

I thought it may have been like how tracks in the snow get larger but then dismissed that figuring they would shrink as the mud dries. Your observation makes perfect since. Thanks
