Since I dont have the strength and stamina to shake a 10 or so gallon gas tank with a chain in it very long i decided I would jack up the backbone my truck and ratchet strap the tank to it and put it in drive using my truck to tumble it. Well that didnt work the truck turs to fast an the chain wanted to stay pressed to the side of the tank.
I cant use the tractor thats geared lowere since its that tractors tank.

Next idea was try it with the zero turn. This seems to be doing the trick rust dust flots out when I slow it down enough to see it.

I figured this may help someone some time. I cant post video. Or get off the mower to get a better picture or it will die so here is a bad usless picture orlwill[Linked Image]

It's still spinning. In guessing i likely will have some shiny spots where the chain is tumbling most. Im not sure what the end results will be but am absolutely sure it will be light years ahead of me trying to shake it. Im chaing the speed now and then in an attempt to change the areas the chain hits. Speed is easy to control with the zero turn.

I wonder if a carton or two of BBs after chain knocks off big stuff. Might get into corners etc. and not be as hard on thin spots as chain.

424 international. Its at an angle on the tire not flat so im not sure its hitting the inside evenly. It was not easy to get in place where it would stay.

On a side note I did think about filling it with brass and walnut hills and tumble brass and clean the tank at the same time. But I won't want to sit out here that long. I need to grab a weight to put in the seat on the pressure switch

Put some ball bearings in it and drive it around for a while.

Put a bottle of the Work's Toilet bowl cleaner in it for 1 hour. And then dump it out and rinse it out good, you should have a shiny tank then.

Thanks for the suggestion. The clean steel ended up bright and the rusted spots were still rust but dark and scarlet knocked off. Lots of fine rust dumped out when I stoped I minced it with water several times and it was rust color the first rinse. Very little water came out of the line so I blew the line out and minced it again. Several times. This is a half hearted attempt to get the tractor going fast. If I were doing it right I would add some more stuff like nuts and bearings and the works like suggested above and run it a few mor hours. I need to wire brush it down and repaint it as well . But I was pressed for time. Had to take my emergency vacation day for some family stuff light last night and today tell this afternoon.

With being down a lot with health issues lately and feeling well today this was an attempt to get some things done. Also planed to get breaks and rotors done on my wifes van. But between interruptions, and looking for tools and the rotor being rusted on i only got one side on the front done. Didn't want to start the other side at 9pm when I need to be up at 430 for work and was starting to have some ms symptoms showing up decided to quit when i was walking side ways like a drunk.. Hopefully I will feel well and get the rest done this weekend or next week. Seems like rust was the them of the day.
