Just received this: Hello Hastings Wildlife, We’re writing to let you know about an upcoming change to Etsy’s marketplace policies that may affect your shop. As part of our ongoing biodiversity efforts, Etsy will prohibit the sale of fur trade items starting in August. More information can be found here. This means that items made from or containing the fur of animals killed primarily for their pelts will need to be removed by that date. We understand this kind of change can be disruptive, and we want to give you time to prepare. We will share additional guidance over the coming months to help you review your listings and understand what this means for your shop. If you have questions in the meantime, you can visit our Help Center to contact support. Thank you for being part of the Etsy community. Best, The Etsy team https://www.etsy.com/legal/policy/a...;utm_medium=email&eaid=1048166794560Well there goes another way to market and sell fur products........

That's BS. I hope you take the time to contact them and let them know that fur is the best ecological choice and how much better it is for our environment as a biodegradable, renewable resource as compared to faux fur.....
Gotta find a way, a better way, I'd better wait
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you

I would respond with the animals were killed for their meat and the fur is a byproduct.
Probably won’t change their minds though.

These clowns have absolutely no concept of the after effects of their backwards do gooder policies. Just bear with me as I try to tie this together
Illinois dnr spring spotlight survey concluded that the raccoon population is 400 percent above baseline. Indiana dnr has been actively studying the grey fox population to find out what is happening to them. Preliminary results suggest that disease and habitat loss are major contributors. Raccoon are the number one wild vector for canine distemper and parvovirus. And it’s absolutely insane for them to adapt to almost every environment. Grey fox,,, not so much. Up until the late 80s… it was common to catch greys in coon sets… they pretty much shared the same similarities as coon.. Then,, the fur market started to decline.. and those guys who were chasing 50 dollar raccoons,, weren’t going to bother with 15 dollar ones… and the coon population began to soar. As the coon population increased,, greys became scarce. Doesn’t take a genius to put 2 and 2 together.
Raccoon are making those greys sick and simply outcompeting them for resources.
The potential extinction of grey fox in the Midwest and other places are entirely the cause of the animal rights movement. AND FOR YOU ANTIS WHO ARE LOOKING,, YOU CAUSED IT!!! Of course,,, they will never accept responsibility and blame it on other things.
Stand by your principles, Stand by your guns, and victory complete and permanent is sure at last. Abraham Lincoln

Center for Biological Diversity/Peta lobby non-stop for these kinds of outcomes. You can bet that threats are made too.

As I began to approach in my car, I saw it crawl into the storm drain. Doesn't seem very sanitary, if that's where they hang out.

Idiots. I bet they aren't banning leather. There goes another market. Hard for the crafters to get started without online markets.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Well, that's a kick in the shorts. We didn't get the letter yet, but I'm sure it's coming. We're peanuts compared to some bigger "stores", but we'll miss the business it generated for sure.

So . . . back to ebay? Been quite a few years. Quit ebay when we set up the ETSY store. Ebay changed much in the last ten years or so?

Digging into Etsy a bit, they aren't much different than ebay, or any other big tech company.
Who owns them?
"Etsy is owned by a mix of institutional investors, mutual funds, and individual shareholders, with the largest shareholders including companies like Vanguard Group and BlackRock. The company is publicly traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker ETSY."
