A recent mole thread prompted me to ask this question. EatenByLimestone said he saw two surface tunnels, then said he was going to start calling his list. This may only be applicable to moles as they can reoccur every year. I know every customer isn't good about keeping contact information, but I have felt, if they need me, they'll call me. I've never wanted to come across as being too pushy or persistent. So, how many folks call their list each year?

Good post... I call only IF I happen to see actual indications of animal activity. Note: this is NOT for moles but beaver.

I don't (and I don't do mole work). But might with beaver as MChewk said. I have made exactly one cold call to a random condo where I just happened to see a gray squirrel go into the gable vent. They called me back about a year later for squirrels and birds.

That list was only for moles and people calling about woodchucks before they’re active for the year.

When the snow goes out every year I get calls for moles. People see the hills and panic. Since we don’t know when the moles were there and I can’t trap in frozen ground I won’t go out until I see signs of fresh moles activity/thawed ground. It’d be a waste of time.

I made my calls and some said they saw no new activity, the moles were gone. Others weren’t sure or saw new activity. Of those I went out to visit, about half had fresh mole activity and I sold the job. The other half didn’t and I gave them a card to call me if they returned. This usually works pretty well as it builds trust. I didn’t just take their money.

I have bimonthly accounts for pest control. April is my second batch of warm season starts. I have a batch that start end of March too. I haven’t been at these houses since October last year. I just text them the day before heading out. They text back if they no longer want me to come out. I’ve had 3 cancel service this year so far. I’d expect maybe a couple more this month. Anybody left after this month will be on the rest of the year most likely. I suspect that a lot of people are going to have tight budgets this year. These are the ones that tend to leave.

Thanks, I appreciate the explanation. Didn't mean to call you out specifically, you just brought up a topic that was worth discussing.
