I'm in the prosses of building a stand for my beam & I was wondering about angle & height, like do I go 45 deg of 35? is belly button good or should I make it hit right below my ribs, I dont want a bad built stand with wrong angles cause i know it will cause fatigue if im scraping at a really bad angel.

Hope I'm making sense with my question.

Belly button is good.

Angle is a personal thing. Some like the beam angled at 45, others a little flatter.

I like it a bit shallower, but most fleshing is done a few inches at a time.

That reaching is what'll give you out.

I made this from a video I found on line. It's portable adjustable and sturdy.

That’s a neat design. Thanks for sharing that. I just bought a brand new hardwood beam and have been trying to come up with a portable and collapsible, easy to store in off season stand for it.

Seen them built into a wall stud before. I run threaded rod between a 2X4 on each side of the bottom of the beam then a cross board at each end for stability. A vertical 2x4 on a hinge screwed to the bottom of the beam allows it to fold up out of the way when not on use a couple pieces of scrap holds the bottom of the support 2X4 in place.

Make your beam adjustable and portable.

Buddy made a similar one with changeable beams (3) from mink to beaver he had it covered.

You can attach a one side of a door hinge to the bottom of you beam and the other to the wall, this will make the angle adjustable until you decide on the most comfortable position and/or angle. As Boco mentioned, I prefer portability to move outside or to other trapping locations. Good Luck

That should work for you. Don't be afraid to modify it as you need to.

I just hinged my beam to the wall and then I placed a sawhorse under It. Then nailed the beam in place when I got the right angle.

Similar to what I did....I used a used door hinge to mount the bottom of the beam against the wall of my shed and another hinge for a 2x4 leg underneath the beam, when in position the leg can move back and forth a little to adjust the angle...brace the leg with a cleat screwed to the floor when you find the angle you like, when done, the beam folds up against the wall, and the leg folds flat against the beam, clean and out of the way.
