A man should absolutely own a suit or two, know how to tie a tie, and shine his shoes.

I went to church yesterday wearing a jacket and no tie. First time in my 79 years. Also wore Sketchers.

I have gone to churchh in suit and 16" lacrosse boots before. As a kid I rembered most of my cloths for sunday. Forgot my shoes one week though . I would get a ride from my grandfather for the hour. drive to my uncle's on Friday after school hunt with my cousin fri and Saturday and Get dropped off at home after church on Sundays for years.

Funny think no one cared if I was in a 3 piece suit and dress shoes, suit and rubber boots or jeans and t shirt. As long as we make it to church the rest is not important.

This young lady dressed for success. Her office attire was impeccable, as was her manners and work ethic. She complimented my coat and said she liked the cut of it as it didn't profile my G19. My site manager had on tactical pants, a polo shirt, boots and a plate carrier. He said he was glad he didn't have to own such nonsense. That young lady looked him dead in the eye and said, "If you don't own a coat, how do you take a lady out to dinner?" She as dead serious.

I don't own a suit anymore, but I do own several well tailored coats and sports coats. Dinner at a nice restaurant in New Orleans, promoting trapping at one of the various conservation organization dinners, trying to get donations for a local veterans organization...A nice coat and tie will do you better than coming in there looking like you just got down running a line on a crawfish farm.

Don't worry. That girl most certainly doesn't want you anyways, lol.[/quote]

I don’t often wear a sport jacket but do occasionally wear a dress shirt, slacks and tie. Our church is part of an association of 10 small, Southern Baptist rural churches. I’ve preached at most of them and jeans and a nice shirt or sweater is appropriate at all of them. We are more interested in the condition of your heart than the condition of your clothes. Not uncommon to see work boots and open carry in any of them. My kind of people.

I have one good suit and a couple nice sport jackets I can wear. Have not for about 5- years. As to a funeral, won't have to worry much about how I am dressed or what goes with me, as I am going to be in a small urn.

I still have a few suits. Often had to wear one when meeting with customers and consulting on projects. These days the grandkids have gotten me to be 'less stiff' in their words. When I need to be more formal it's a dress shirt, open collar, jeans or dockers, dress shoes, and sport coat, optional, depending on the event. Yup, one day I'll be wearing a suit and tie with vest again; but I won't be knowing it.

Just could never figure the kids wearing Keds for shoes with a sport coat or tux for prom though.

I have evolved from suits to bib overalls. Every man needs at least a pair of good bib overalls. And be confident enough to go to church in them........If people look differently at you in bibs at church - they likely need prayed for. God knew me before I was formed and knows my heart and my standing with Him. Not at all concerned with impressing my Savior, He died for me. Rather be humble and doing what He has called me to do. Suits can make a man feel elevated and proud but I sure never found them comfortable or prepared to crawl under a car or change a flat tire........

Well said. Funny thing I no longer open any bibs other than outdoor insulated ones. Same with suit. I asked my wife if I still had one and she said no well maybe at the other house somewhere but I dont think so.

The difference in is I was looking a Jean bib last month at rual king but all were much to large to fit. I will buy a few pair when I come across some in my size I used to wear them and liked them when I was Ironworking. I have no plans of buying any more suits for myself. Maybe I will buy a few suits for the boys but they just keep growing

Im the pastor of a small church, I wear bibs to preach in, do weddings, funerals, hospital visits, trap, farm, forage, cut wood, you name it. As many have said, "God knows my heart"! I do wear black bibs in the pulpit on Sunday mornings and funerals. It is my calling to teach people the Word and try to assist them in coming to know their Father through his Son Jesus Christ. I dont need to look fancy or important to do that. No suit for me.

Nope if I can’t be there in jeans then I’m not coming. Had jeans on at my mom’s funeral or else she wouldn’t have recognized me lol

Yes!

I have absolutely worn overalls to church

I am much more likely to be in the kitchen washing dishes after the monthly luncheon or help with that flat tire or check for the noise some one noticed on the way to church. then I am to wear fancy cloths.

Pastor Bob isn't even wearing a suit , dress shirt and dockers type pants

I own two but refuse to ever wear them again. the shell in the casket doesnt give a crap, whoever is getting married has other things on their mind. I just dont care to ever wear one again, and at this point in time I am not prepared to share with anyone other than my son and wife, who already know why I wont wear one.
