The first problem with your statement is California.

Yes sir I’ve seen fire do funny things, the chief here always says if you’re going to burn grass call him before you light it so he can let people know to kinda be around if you need them, I always thought that was smart so they at least had a heads up.

I spent 5 winters in East Texas around 20 years ago burning. I was stationed in Lufkin (Hudson Helibase) and we would fly each day to the Angelina, Sam Houston, Caddo, Sabine and whatever the other forest was in Texas to do RX burns. Another year I took a Strike Team of engines down there for fires. I have been on fires in West Texas quite a few times too. Those were "fun" fires and far different than the mountain West. My years in Idaho on the Boise and Clearwater NF's were some of the best.
