I do wildlife management for my FFA Project, but I mainly focus on larger varmints such as beavers, coyotes, and raccoons for local farmers. However, I recently had my Ag Teacher ask me to handle some moles for her. They have been digging around her yard and she needs them gone. What do you recommend for getting rid of them? Traps? Poison? I am wanting to learn as I would like to practice and someday offer this service to my customers. Thank you for your time

Traps are your friend, watch some YouTube videos. Mole reaper on here has good traps as does Trapline Products Traps. I’m pretty sure both have instructions on YouTube. I would pick one or the other and get that figured out, as all the mole and gopher traps have their own learning curve. Also you want to learn the difference between the mole and gopher damage. Most customers will call and say they have moles but it’s a 50/50 tossup if they get that part right. Good luck with this project, don’t give up.

Moles are really easy and I show the absolute simplest method of trap setting in my videos. If you want to get started I offer a Home Defense Kit on my website (molereapertraps dot com) that’s gets you all the gear needed to get going. I also offer tons of free tutorials on my YouTube (@ molereapertraps). If you have any questions please feel free to shoot me a message or text me 618-5eightzero 3two06. Thanks!!

Like trapping any animal for the first time there is a learning curve. Moles can be challenging to catch at first. Once you figure out identifying the best runs to set and developing some good trap setting mechanics you will be good. Don't get frustrated, we all have had to pay our dues to become proficient at trapping them.

Like stated watch a few videos however hands on is the best training and learning process.
