As stated on another post, my wife won a trip to Homer. Trying to pick a time to go. The only available time we can go this year is the second week in August. We’re guaranteed some halibut fishing but I’d like to do some river fishing along the kenai as well. I don’t have the money to probably do a trip like this again so I wanna do it right the first time. Would that be a decent to time to do it? Otherwise it looks like (according to the internet) late July might be worth holding out for. Do I go the second week of August 2026 or wait for a possibly better time in 2027?

I have heard that the reds are running that late into August now. Subject to change.

In Southeast, the coho are starting to show up then. Not sure about Kenai.

Just doing what I want now.
