Knowing that there's a wealth of knowledge on T'man, I thought I'd ask this here.

I have an Ingersoll Rand air compressor with a John Deere 300 series engine in it. It has not run in years. It has an electric fuel solenoid that is working, fuel is getting past it, but no fuel is being fed into the injector lines.

Is something gummed up inside the pump? Is there anyway to free it up? or other fixes possible other than pulling off the pump and have someone go through it at a cost of $1200?

I rebuilt one like that on my old backhoe. Was easy. But rebuild kit did not come with the vanes. Rubber star looking thing . Bought that on ebay. I think everything was less than $50.

When i worked in the mine we had a Quincy air compressor with a john deere diesel engine in it and if it was run out of fuel it was an absolute nightmare to get the air bled out for some reason. Looked alot like your engine the best i can remember

Same compressor started running really
ah-oh bad. It had a loose electrical ground
at solenoid.
I cleaned all and bingo.
What Sako said too.
I hope it is that simple for you.
Filters maintained?
Suck fuel/water from tank bottom?
Bleed, bleed, then bleed it.

Edit After you bleed some more,
starting fluid is your friend.

Yeah. After I rebuilt my pump I almost gave up bleeding it. Thought I screwed something up in pump. Then it finally came alive.

As others have said, air in the lines can be a real pain to get out of some of those diesels.

CAV’s are a pain to prime, make sure the throttle is wide open, the plate on the side with the two bolts and wire should be covering the alignment mark you can take that off and check for rotation, with those bolts out of the pipe end are you getting anything even a drip?

Not hard to bleed the air. Crack a couple of injectors and start cranking and spraying ether. Once running tighten injectors up

There is fuel getting to the injector pump, the fuel is getting to and passed the fuel solenoid (it's opening up) but no fuel to the injector lines.
I will try Bob's advice tomorrow and pull off the timing inspection plate and see if I have rotation. Someone told me the meter valve is probaby stuck; whatever that is.
