We had the power company come through and clean the right of way and it opens up the line of view from the road to our house. I would like to plant some bushes or trees that would only get 10 feet or so to fill that space (about 100 foot wide stretch). Also I would like to plant more that is not under power lines to fill in another 300' to help with privacy and dust from traffic on the gravel road.

I'm in East central MN. Any suggestions on something that is fast growing?

We border our property with cedars. Excellent wind break and they grow fast. Plant fairly close together and they provide great privacy.
Then do redbuds or wild plum in front of them for the eye candy.

I like Privet very hardy and vigor for the north country. Do some research o Privet I have used in many places and also bordered my yard. It is a nice looking hedge border plant for homes.

Not if you want to have any apple trees. Cedar apple rust will attack your apples negatively. To many coders close to my farm is why I have not planted any apples.
