I dropped my beaver skins off with my local FHA agent, Brian Mohn this morning. He was very busy ticketing. He has quite a load ready to ship.

Lots of beaver and red fox and mink but almost every other critter was represented as well.

Eh...wot?

How many rats did you end up with mud? Wish we had a decent population around here. I only catch maybe one a year.

BTW, Boco practically promised that $10 rats will be a thing again....real soon.

Shipped 200 total. Sold about 20 black ones before drop off and shipped 70 more. I’m sure some will fall out for size or damage.

Funny all the NAFA bags heading to FHA. LOL

Gotta find a way, a better way, I'd better wait

It will be very interesting to see the valuations FHA puts on the fresh rats coming in for June given they moved out all those stale rats.

Maybe.

I was surprised to see the number of red fox ready to ship. Our fox almost always grade central and FHA doesn't pay well on them. You can often do much better at PTA auctions where they end up mostly with craft buyers.

Eh...wot?

Brain tells me he has a hard time getting bags from FHA so he begs, borrows and steals, uses what he can find. LOL

An interesting note - when NAFA went under, they had a lot of supplies left over. I assume they were sold to FH. That included not only fur bags but other items used at the auctions.

When you see pictures of the buyers in the auction room, you will see lots of round yellow discs with numbers. Those are the bidder numbers used in the computer system. They all came from NAFA. Very sturdy and easy to read. Before that, FH used paper for bidder numbers.

FH is also using left over pelt tags from NAFA. Every pelt except ermine, squirrel and maybe muskrat, get a unique bar coded tag stapled to it. That is how that particular pelt is tracked in the system. Any number of the pelts I’ve bought the last couple of years have been NAFA tags. Better to use them then to throw them away.

Maybe poor ol step child FH will be able to afford their own tater sacks after the boom they had this year.

FHA still has some western Canadian raw fur sales bags from when they bought them out.

I think NAFA absorbed them.
I might have a couple bags from the North West Company whose stores were in lots of small towns here in the North back in the day.
