How would one begin to mix up some Fatty Acid Scent c2-c8?

Do I need to buy all the various acids? Then experiment with mixing them? Then fix them with glycerine or mineral oil?

Just curious.

I bought mine from the depot in Pocatello that make stuff for the aphis boys

I haven't done a ton of research but I thought they only sold one FAS formulation. Im guessing from your post Centex they sell several different ones?
Ive got a paper written by Sherm Blom and he references FAS but speaks as there is only one available.

In one of sherms articles he gives the contact info for the depot. Just Google ahpis depot Pocatello and it will pop up. You will need to call them.

Authors in multiple articles seem to agree and stress that while the volatile, stinky, short-chained fatty acids are the most reliable component of warm-weather canine lures, true efficiency lies in various combinations of fatty acids and other chemicals (aldehydes, etc.) that are naturally present in attractive materials, or can mimic the naturally attractive combinations that exist in natural lures and baits (but due to the low content of the volatile substances that make lures and baits attractive, figuring out how to create saturated or enhanced concoctions is the right vector of research)

They can be effective when used individually (decanoic acid) or in various combinations (i.e, CFA and FAS) to provide variety. I'd find the available fatty acids and start from there, gradually adding stuff. This is what I've been doing with marten lures and it's very satisfying.

All predators make a living upon what nature provides them. That can be wild or domestic game and the other fruits,vegetables and nuts that are seasonally available.

They aren't always very picky as to which they consume.

Developing lures and baits from those known available materials will produce good results. The addition of other ingredients to enhance those basic elements are what can make a meaningful difference in a product.

Also a key point to remember at times, is going back to a singular basic familiar odor can be the trick in some circumstances. Particularly on some hard pressed animals.
