Guys, is there a better way to attach your tags other than thru the swivel at the end,,
I really don’t like putting it there because of the swivel action can cause it to get torn off easily.
Any suggestions??

Don't attach it to the swivel. Crimp or roll it onto the swivel with your fingers.

I just fold the tag around the snare cable just above the swivel. Fold it 3 or 4 times and it won't come off.

I install them on the bottom wire while making the snare or attach them with electric motor wire near the bottom of the snare

I run the cable thru the hole in tag when making the snare. I crimp a small aluminum loop stop about an inch above the swivel that creates a place on the cable just for the tag.....this also keeps the tag at the swivel end so it don't interfere with the lock. I then just fold it up so it don't dangle.

The tags with 2 holes work well as the cable can be ran thru both holes. No folding of tag necessary.

I put a tag on all cable extensions too.....as a backup.

I used to put the snare cable, and the no.9 wire together, wrap the tag around both and form my whammy.
Have to have both, so both in one tag.

People will have a hard time believing this but if you get a label maker you can print them, peel the back off, and wrap it so it hits the snare in the middle and sticky back it to itself completely when you fold it over. Its a plastic automotive tear proof waterproof temp proof material. The better you get it to fold in the center and stick fully onto itself the better it works. Like you may do one line of text so its longer instead of two lines so you get more label material / contact area. Some people just use their license number. Prob varies by state. I think I did my snares on the anchor end around that piece of hardware not the wire. I think I did it both ways actually but on the anchor end they cant get to it to chew so much I like to think.

I make my own snare swivels out of #9 round stock so they're heavy duty , I wrap the tag around the straight section and I reuse them repeatedly .
I've had a coyote that when it wrapped up in some brush started chewing on the swivel and didn't get the tag chewed off .

You're results may vary ha ha !

You're friend along the snare line .

I’ve wrapped the copper trap tags around the snare wire and do it at the loop where you anchor the snare not out by the lock. I’ve also just attached the tag to same end loop for anchoring with a piece of stiff wire twisted. Snares are pretty much a one catch tool for me so I don’t put too much effort in attaching tags. Even the cheapo “write on” soft tags work great for snares for this reason too, cheaper than copper tags.
Attach the tag or wrap it on the end loop close to the anchor point and the tag won’t get destroyed after a catch or interfere with the lock.
Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I started tagging so many that I just clamp it on with a hog ring and let it dangle by the swivel. WAY easier and they don’t get tangled like you might be inclined to think.

Rolling them up like that isn't game warden or set friendly. The snare will have to be completely taken down for the tag to be read.

To each his own....but don't complain.

Slick way to roll them up ADC, but you rolled one up in the video with the info on the inside.

Hey Swamp, those tags can be unrolled by hand super easy if they are soft copper, and can be done without moving or overly disturbing the snare....I do them the same way, and there are several reasons.

1. If somebody is looking at your tag you will know it because they never roll them back the same way, even if they try.

2. It requires at least a minimal effort to inspect, but many non trapppers either won't, or don't even recognize it as a tag.

3. It's a neat, compact way of attaching a tag that doesn't look like a billboard advertising your info to trap thieves.

Had several wardens unroll mine, and honestly hasn't been a problem so far.

Good deal on the KY GWs. Unfortunately, here in Georgia, most of the past few year's new hires would struggle with that rolled tag....if they even recognized it as such.
