I love burning oak, high BTU's and for whatever reason it doesn't produce as much ash as other species.

I'd rather use white oak for woodworking though, it's my second favorite wood right behind walnut.

Eh...wot?

Nice job. The best splitting wood you can find in my opinion. I have a little over 5 cords of red oak stacked right now. I wanted 3 more cords but ran out of time catfish are starting to bite and mushrooms soon to be popping ,have to wait till fall now lol

It does split real nice ozark trapper ia, and like Lugnut said produces little ash.

Like it aged/cured 3 yrs, then it throws a ton of heat & coals well.

Neighbor has a tree disposal service, so it's been a real boon for cheap BTU's.

If you ever get the chance, you should try splitting it when it's about -20. Splits so well that it's actually fun for awhile. Lol.

Pretty straight, not bad to split by hand but I still prefer my splitter, I like it to burn.

Mr Kentucky are you loading all those by hand? I pretty much gave up lifting anything 22 iches and up anymore. I noodle them halfway through and a wack or two with the maul makes it alot easier for me.

Those rounds in the trailer are 100# plus, so I roll them up with a atv ramp...Only lift them so far to stack on top of each other....In my 20's, 30's, 40's lifting those would have been very possible, but that was decades ago, Lol.

Working with wood will harden you up, and slim the waistline, but a ibuprofin is needed if working a continous string of days....wetdog is right when he says red oak bark will blacken traps, it's a great dye.
