ear buds
phone charging cable
laptop if you have one
deck of cards
note paper
pen/pencil

spare pair of cotton gym shorts and a t-shirt , socks, underwear and easy to slip on shoes.

won myself a 3 night stay back in Nov

got a fair number of nights for the kids

and plenty of days with the wife's cancer.

if you are the advocate especially if you are on special diet snacks for you but don't eat in front of your patient if they are a no eat order.
also if you are the advocate , your prescriptions , good to have a 3 days supply all the time in the event you don't have more than a minute before you are driving for the ER

singles for the vending machine also not a bad idea.

while the wife had cancer I just kept a bag packed to go all the time.
the chemo patients often want mints stronger the better because the port flush solution makes an awful taste in the mouth , sadly it might be the only taste they have left while on chemo

Not a fun place. 5 1/2 years ago I had a lung collapse and spent a week in the hospital. You haven't lived until you had a chest tube pushed into you like a meat thermometer. Never again.
The year before I spent half a day in for gall bladder removal. That was a piece of cake compared to the lung work.

Thanks guys I broke out and am back home. I can't say good as new, but I am at least headed in that direction. The doctors say it's a bacterial infection in the intestines. They were very insistent that I likely picked it up from the farm animals. I thought that they were crazy, but my work contacted me this morning and said 3 of the other guys have also gotten sick. Sounds like I am by far the worst case, but it is clearly not limited to me.

At least they know and hopefully have a plan played out. Keep hydrated. Take care and ill keep you in my prayers
