Do only bishops wear funny hats? Is that to show you they are closer to God? What is the purpose of your bishops? Is he not just another sinful man? no the pope does too, and priests too sometimes. And cardinals. No it's not to show you they're closer to God. It's mostly for tradition's sake. The high priest of back in the day would wear similar things. I believe they wear em to differentiate them from regular priests? Kind of like ranks in the military I guess? The purpose of them is they are leaders... They are there to sort of guide the people. Yeah he is another sinful man but he sets an example, he has a superior voice in things....... He needs to be strong & a good leader. The whole religion would collapse if we didn't have the Popes, and the bishops are kind of the Pope's helpers sort of. Religion would NOT collapse without pope's and bishops CC

Some of the comments crack me up. I’ve posted on here before that I went to the Baptist church 3 times a week until I was 25 and have attended mass every week since 1997 with the wife. There are beautiful things about both religions but I don’t go to church for a religion. My family goes to church to worship God.

You mean like the Levitical priests ? Or do you mean like pastors who dress like they are trying to sell you an Oldsmobile ?
They forget everyone was Catholic until the heretics screwed things up for them in the 16th century. May want to do some reading on that Blaine. Early Christians were around before catholics with robes and praying to saints, costumes and such.

Agreed.I go to church every Sunday except when I’m working in Baxter state Park and can’t attend and all holy days of obligation.I attend church to worship God and Jesus and receive holy communion which is the body and blood of Jesus.

and no we never wanted to see the bishop
he hated us we were too far away and too farm country
we weren't fancy enough and didn't donate enough to his cathedral
we got the feeling it was beneath him to visit peasant church.
I apparently missed the part where Jesus said I want your fancy suits and big donations , the more ornate your tabernacle the better.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I have never had a Catholic teach me anything about Jesus Christ. Never once. Catholics don't try to shove their religion in other people's faces and rub their noses in it as badly as some of the "Christian" religions do. Those people are almost universally hated by everyone else and drive many decent people from Christianity. They are the Christian equivalent of Islamists, though overall less dangerous. Keith

You can not. Salvation is a washing away your sins by the blood of the Lord God Jesus who came to die for you and you must believe in all your heart and mind that he is the only begotten Son of God . You have nothing to do or can you do. He is the only way least you could say I. No confession of sins. No works or good deeds. Nothing but knowledge and faith in his blood on the cross and his power to carry your sins. … think all you have to do is eat a cracker and drink a shot of wine or something … you might be reading too much into it

The only point is that the Lord Jesus is the only one who has the power to take away sin and also to give the Holy Spirit to you . … seen in the book of Mark you have to take up serpents and drink poison to be taken seriously …. I won’t listen to anyone that doesn’t do that at least thrice weekly
