I know ALOT of the old time trappers used the tar out of bacon grease,, but does anyone still use it?
Just curious if mixing bacon grease with castor would work for late winter, picky breeding raccoon.

I use bacon grease and cavern’s moonshine mix kept in a Tupperware container, and use a wooden popsicle stick to place a little on each rim of DP trap. Been doing this for years

I save all my bacon grease by pouring into a cup or a drain with aluminum foil in it. I fold up the foil after hardening and it goes in the freezer. Works great as a paste smear on concrete culvert walls, rubbing on a pole on a running pole set, or by itself in a dirt hole or pocket. Many uses. Can't beat the price.

My #1 opossum producer last season.
Mixed with egg shells.

It will definitely draw in the trash!

I have a good amount for old Corn Dog and some mini doughnut grease (separate or mixed) throughout the summer. If anyone is interested.

I would think it would catch coons.

For Coons all I ever used was Cherry Kool-aid and the cheapest Cat food I could find. Mix up a half gallon of Kool-aid using 3 packages and pour it into a 5 gallon bucket with the cat food. Mix it really good and put it inside of a DP. or dirt hole. Coons just love it. I would catch 200 plus Coons with that mixture.

Oh yeah, with some raw onion and bell pepper .

Read a story years ago about red fox hill.
The guy would use bacon grease, and other cooking waste, and bury it on a hill.
A bunch of different spots.
Guess he caught a lot of red fox there.
There's not many critters that doesn't like the smell of bacon grease, and just have to check it out.
Guess the campfire pit set , is a good example.

Yep, it does work. If you do pole sets, just drill some holes above your set and let this stuff sink in. It will also bring some deer during cold winter months.
