Must be a heavy load to need that many mules.

You know you're old when you walk past a rest room and think, as long as I'm here........

That is Death Valley. Notice the huge water tank at the rear with the full load of Borax. Had to pack your own water. Yep...same pure stuff we use today. Take care...OTG

I spent a lot of time in central Utah. Always wondered why the streets in the towns were so wide. My buddy in Price said it was so that large mule teams could turn around in town.

That is cool as heck. I never knew the name 20 Mule Team Borax came from actually using 20 mules to haul it out. I looked it up, it's true and there's many similar real photos.

I used 20 Mule Team Borax to preserve the very first hides I did, back when I was 12. I remember having my mom buy it for me at Marsh's. My uncle David told me to use it. My hides came out stiff as a board, but looked good on my walls.

That's incredible, never would of thought you could train a mule to jump a chain like that and not end up a tangled mess.

A 20-mule team typically pulled two loaded borax wagons and a water tank, with the entire train weighing approximately 36.5 tons (\(73,000+\) pounds). Each wagon carried roughly \(10\) tons of borax and weighed about \(7,800\) pounds empty, totaling over \(20\) million pounds of borax transported between 1883 and 1889 that giant water tank on the back hauled 1200 gallons of water.
