I use a Harbor Freight metal bender. Fast and easy. Made a dozen yesterday in about five minutes. After spending five minutes on the first one over bending it and pounding it back. Lol

Ya I seen those and not a bad deal. I thought about it.
But Iam cheap and wanted to try to make them like I did with the old man years ago
1/4 rod is $4 for 20 foot . $11 for 3/4 x 3/16 flat 20’. Makes a lot of plates. [Linked Image]

Not perfect but they will work for me. Haha

I made this. Patterned after the bigger one Harbor Freight sells: made up a handful of baseplates. Worked well! [Linked Image]

It fits on my 6 ton bench press. The harbor freight one fits the 20 ton press they sell and is to big for my 6 ton press.

I like that Mr Samuelson. I made two plates but I need some guides like that on the end to keep them even and inline.

Might be a dumb question, but what’s the rods for?

I've used rod baseplates on 1 1/2's. More as a way to center swivel them, but it's enough to beef up the base a bit on a coon trap.

I put rod baseplates on some #3 double longs years ago. They were about 3/8" rod and were made as trailer tie downs. I seen them in a shop that sells parts to make trailers and they looked just like the ones he posted and were about six inches long, and if I remember correctly about fifty cents. like k snow, they were mainly a way to center swivel them, but they worked well. Not as comfortable to set over your knee though.

The ones in the pic are for some #2 Double long spring but like some of the guys said I use them on 1 1/2 coil spring also. Here’s one that was baseplate with rod [Linked Image]
