That is why removing material from the posts would have no consequences while cutting the cross piece might. For a swing stand and with a brace you should still be fine but I just wanted to share how the ol men in my family and the ol farts I day waged for would answer my how to questions. Osagan trapper O Joined: Sep 2020 Missouri	You could get a couple of pieces of 1/8th' thick, 2' angle iron as long as the posts are wide and screw them in the inside angle of the posts for added rigidity. Whether you're building rabbit hutches, roofing houses or building love swings that you and the wife can swing in while gazing out at your livestock, we are here for you with plenty of advise on how you should proceed. Think of it as synergy. A brain trust.

But for the time being it's up and the wife is beyond happy She loves it and I may or may not have given it a test in the form of taking a 5hr nap on it and waking up with both the dogs on it with me ..not gonna lie I can see why she bugged me so much about one of these deals ...it's nice ! Still that deal of mine is popping up....now that I built it and I got a lil experience.... I really wanna just tear it down and build another.... But I also don't feel like breaking 240lbs of concrete out the ground soill have to do now she just n eds to do her part and re sand and paint it YouTube expert "The bird of Hermes is my name , eating my wings to keep me tame"

Edit: just saw the pic of the corner braces. I'd still add the 2x6s in in corners. Your vertical beam is gonna split at the corner of the notch. You need shade in that Mississippi heat and humidity and shady spots usually change during the course of the day. You guys could enjoy different views that way too. Keith
